about us
milwaukee_hoan_bridge
Annually over 35,000 packages are exchanged at the Metro Milwaukee Florists Delivery Coop. That is about 115 a day and usually 40 an hour delivered over a 4 county area. Most packages are delivered between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.. We deliver all of Milwaukee County and extensive areas of Waukesha, Washington & Ozaukee counties. These are florists delivering flowers not a delivery service and WE know how to handle flowers, it is our business. How do we do it? The Coop exists primarily on the patronage of its members. We use a multi-part tag to distribute packages to delivering members and a portion of the cost is retained is to pay for the building expenses. The remain portion pays the delivering florist for their services. Any profits over the expenses are returned to the member in the form of a dividend in future years. The more tags a member purchases the larger their dividend. The Coop also sells packaging supplies and florist related items at a very nominal cost as an added benefit of their membership. It’s all about customer service and that is why we created the Metro Milwaukee Florists Delivery Coop.
What is a Coop?
Cooperatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy and equality. In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others. Such legal entities have a range of unique social characteristics. Membership is open, meaning that anyone who satisfies certain non-discriminatory conditions may join. Economic benefits are distributed proportionally according to each member's level of participation in the cooperative, for instance by a dividend on sales, services or purchases, rather than divided according to invested.
